The Miljoenenlijn is a beautiful railway line straight through the South Limburg Hill Country. Board the 100-year-old steam train at Simpelveld Station, let yourself be carried through the enchanting landscape and take a nostalgic trip back in time. Experience the romance of travelling from times gone by and dream away in the luxurious plush of the 1st class carriages....

Simpelveld's large station yard is worth discovering: a bustling place where long mining trains full of coal once left for the north and travellers embarked on a train journey to distant European destinations. 

Did you know that Simpelveld Station is the oldest border railway station in the Netherlands? It is located on the former Aachen-Maastricht railway line, the Netherlands' first international railway line (from 1853)! It is therefore equipped with a large customs office with visitation hall and the Royal Military Police also had a station here. 

Also visit the depot and workshop, where all the rolling stock is maintained by enthusiastic volunteers. Afterwards, enjoy a delicious cup of coffee with Limburg flan in the cosy station restaurant.
